The DCR SL Road carbon wheelset exhibits incredible weight savings, a five year rim warranty and still features our reliable road hubs. 

The DCR SL Road Carbon wheelset is ideal for competitive summer riding because of its low weight and its good braking performance. Again, our eye has been kept keenly on value, however the set is still hand built by us in Sussex to our usual superlative standards. The weight has been kept low (1230g for disc brake, 1315g/pair for rim brake) whilst also providing a stiff and resilient setup.

Extremely Light But Durable

The prices listed includes UK shipping and tubeless rim tape.  We build the wheels with black hubs, black spokes and black alloy nipples. The DCR hubs used here have our dedicated UK weather treatment to ensure maximum longevity and best possible performance, as well as fast freehub engagement and anti-bite system on the Shimano versions.  Campagnolo (including N3W), XD and XDR, and Shimano Microspline freehubs can be fitted if required.  The rim brake hubs can also be adapted between 130mm and 135mm spacing, and the disc brake hubs can be adapted between quick release and thru-axle standards. 

Venn 30mm Disc Brake SL

1230g/pair. The rims have a nice wide profile that is suitable for road disc and gravel applications – a great option for a carbon disc brake wheelset. The 21mm internal width works very well with 25/28c tyres but wider tyres can be fitted as well, making it a particularly versatile option. It is sufficiently shallow that it provides excellent stability in a range of conditions – the profile is arguably aero however has not been meticulously optimised in this way.  It would be an aero alternative to a box section aluminium rim, however aerodynamically is a poor performer against the Venn 520, 507 or 77 rims.

Venn 30mm Rim Brake SL

1315g/pair. The Venn 30mm SL carbon rim, DCR standard road hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes offer a great lightweight, high ride quality and laterally stiff wheelset. Unlike most rim brake carbon rims on the market, the Venn 30mm SL carbon rims are Graphene impregnated and feature a textured braking surface, providing class-leading braking which is both predictable and reliable. The 19mm internal width works very well with a range of road a gravel tyres, from 23c to 35c. Their shape is a modern aero rounded profile, which although isn’t as aerodynamic as the deeper rims in the lineup (contact us for details) it does keep allow for the impressive weight savings. There is a bead locking system and subtle hook compatible with all road tubeless and tubeless ready road tyres. A deep central channel ensures easier installation and removal of tyres.

Spokes And Nipples

Sapim CX-Rays are Sapim’s premium spokes. Using Sapim’s alloy nipples and our nipple/spoke prep means that even in all year round use alloy nipples are still a sound choice.  We provide a lifetime warranty on the build/spokes on this basis.  Changing your hub colour can be done without any additional charge, as can a switch to silver spokes if required. DCR titanium skewers can be added for £30.  International delivery is possible but will incur an additional charge.
