H Plus Son say:

The perfect all around road rim. At 470 grams, this rim has proven to be light yet not sacrificing strength, stiffness, and stability. The well accepted 23mm wide profile mimics a tubular tire, where the advantage can be felt immediately while taking corners as the tire is no longer shaped as a light bulb, flopping over with high load. Our impeccable H Plus Son workmanship and our invisible welded rim joint comes standard with each rim.

DCR says:

This rim can take full tensions. It is strong, light, stiff. It is not tubeless compatible. It has a larger braking surface than the A23 and Pacenti SL23 and a deeper profile. On my scales the weight is nearly identical, within 10g of one another, so natural variation may play a bigger factor. It comes with a welded joint and is made out of H Plus Son’s G609 alloy which is 30% stronger than standard 6061.

H Plus Son Archetype black

Black Finish

It can be used for a variety of applications because of its wide profile. It will take as low as 23c but you could also use this as a cyclocross rim. H Plus Son have said that a 20:24 lacing on this rim will hold a rider of up to 200lbs or 91kg although in reality with more spokes it is fine with riders heavier than this.  The rim is smart to look at with an unusual profile.

H Plus Son Archetype silver road rim

Polished finish

It is most popular with heavier riders and also those looking to avoid the tighter fit found with most tubeless ready rims.  The rim has been available for longer than most of the 23mm wide rims and has withstood the test of time.  It has proven itself to be one of the most reliable rims that I sell.

In the polished silver finish the rim is popular with classic looking builds for those who are looking for a more modern performing rim.  If you are looking to consider alternative products to the Archetype, we recommend looking at Which Rim?
